PAB performs 'Live' with The Queensland Orchestra

In a historic first, exclusive collaboration between Inspired Acoustics and The Queensland Orchestra (Brisbane, Australia) has resulted in a uniquely powerful demonstration of the new Palace of Arts Budapest Pipe Organ Samples. Taking advantage of the simultaneous presence of The Queensland Orchestra’s Conductor Laureate, Muhai Tang and the programming of Richard Strauss’ sprawling tone poem for large orchestra Also Sprach Zarathustra, negotiations were finalized permitting the recording of the famous introductory Sunrise sequence, on stage in the Brisbane City Hall — but without the pipe organ.

This close-miked orchestral performance, captured by engineers of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), was then carefully processed with the acoustic signature of the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall (home of the Palace of Arts, Budapest’s renowned pipe organ) before recombination with the organ score, realized virtually through the groundbreaking Palace of Arts Budapest Pipe Organ Samples.

This elaborate ‘master’ recording is itself combined with dramatic footage of the Palace of Arts, its concert hall and the magnificent organ now available to the public through this revolutionary sample library, in a video tribute now screening on this website.

Inspired Acoustics expresses its great thanks to The Queensland Orchestra, its administration and all 102 musicians, the ABC and technical staff, and to the professional organists who have helped realize this performance. The Secretariat of the Hungarian World Heritage Committee declared that it officially supports the mission of the INSP:IR Impulse Library project. 'We believe that the extension of this acoustic project to World Heritage sites can contribute to a better cognizance of their intangible values as well.' - stated head of Secretariat Tamás Pintér.
